An Oklahoma man charged with child pornography entered a blind plea during a hearing in Tulsa County District Court on March 4. Ricky Lewis, 31, was arrested last year and charged with eight felony counts, including manufacturing, distribution and aggravated possession of child pornography; procuring and attempting to procure the participation of a minor in child pornography; two counts of manufacture of obscene material; and one count of use of a computer to facilitate a sex crime. A blind plea means that Lewis did not have an agreement with the state before entering his plea; the judge will now rule on the Oklahoma man’s punishment, which will likely be severe. If you have been charged with child pornography or another serious sex crime in Oklahoma, your first course of action should be to consult our reputable defense attorneys at Oklahoma Legal Center as soon as possible.

Arrest Made for Child Pornography Offenses

Last year, Ricky Lewis was arrested after investigators with a search warrant found images of a girl on the man’s computer. The 31-year-old was then arrested a second time after evidence on his cell phone indicated that he was meeting women on Craigslist and then asking them to send him naked photos of their children. According to court records, Lewis would describe the sex acts he wanted to perform with these young children, and also offered to let the people he was talking to online have sex with his young son. Two women also facing sex crime charges – Brittany Dick and Sally Deupree – allegedly went along with Lews’ requests, and Lewis is set to be sentenced for his crimes in late April.

Understanding Child Pornography Charges in Oklahoma

Under Oklahoma law, pornography is defined as any and all sexually-explicit material intended to arouse the viewer, and with access to children via the Internet and computers becoming increasingly easy, Oklahoma lawmakers and authorities are taking a tough stance on any and all pornography crimes involving minors. Child pornography charges in Oklahoma may be brought against any person who creates or produces material depicting minors engaging in actual or simulated sexual activity; or any person who publishes or distributes obscene, harmful or indecent materials to minors.
