According to the official police report, Ada police officer Kylor Pool stopped McConnell early Sunday morning in the 100 block of Kings Road after he observed the vehicle the ECU basketball coach was driving speeding in the 1200 block of North Broadway. It was reported that McConnell’s BAC was 0.08%, and, under Oklahoma law, any person operating a vehicle with a BAC of 0.08% or higher is considered intoxicated. If McConnell is convicted of the misdemeanor DUI charge filed against him, the 36-year-old could face serious penalties, including jail time of no less than ten days and no more than one year and a fine of up to $1,000. McConnell made his first court appearance on January 14, and his hearing has been scheduled for February 6, before District Judge Steve Kessinger, according to court documents.
